Bangladesh’s leading industrial conglomerate, Meghna Group of Industries, has selected Wärtsilä Gas Solutions to supply the cargo handling system for its new fully pressurised LPG carrier for Meghna Fresh LPG, a part of the Meghna Group.
This vessel, owned by the Meghna group, is currently under construction at its own shipyard. It will serve the company’s energy sector and will enter service in 2026.
Wärtsilä’s scope for the cargo handling system is divided into three main parts: engineering scope, material scope and supervision, commissioning, and gas trial scope.
It covers cargo control systems, deck machinery, instrumentation, LPG piping, and materials connecting the cargo tanks to the hull.
The company will also provide on-site assistance during the vessel’s construction at the shipyard.
This is the fifth project between Meghna Group and Wärtsilä. Knut-Erik Heggem, Sales Manager at Wärtsilä, says that with this order, they forge a stronger relationship and trust with Meghna Group.
He added that Wärtsilä is proud to support Bangladesh’s growth.
The new vessel is designed for both inland river and deep-sea operations, strengthening Meghna Group’s transport capabilities.
Meghna Group of Industries is one of the largest industrial conglomerates in Bangladesh. The conglomerate comprises industries including cement, chemicals, consumer products, insurance, real estate, securities, utilities, etc.
The group launched four oceangoing vessels with a carrying capacity of 66000 tonnes each in 2023 and expanded its fleet to a total of 22 vessels.
