A Belize-registered dredger named KSE Hitachi sank while moored off Tuas, Singapore, on 14 April 2025.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) received the alert around 1:30 pm and responded immediately.
There were no people on board the dredger when the incident occurred, and no injuries have been reported.
Despite the sinking, port operations in the area continue as normal.
MPA has issued a navigational broadcast to warn nearby vessels to avoid the site for safety reasons.
The dredger’s company is in the process of arranging salvage efforts to recover the sunken vessel.
Additionally, MPA has deployed three patrol crafts to monitor the situation and support any required actions.
An investigation has been launched to find out what led to the sinking of the vessel.
