A Singapore-registered passenger ferry carrying 165 passengers and seven crew members collided with the Marshall Islands-registered tanker La Digue near the Southern Islands on 10 November 2025.
The incident occurred at around 5pm while the ferry, Horizon 9, was travelling from Batam towards HarbourFront Centre.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported that it immediately deployed a patrol craft to escort and guide the ferry back to Singapore.
All passengers and crew were safely disembarked at the Regional Ferry Terminal at HarbourFront Centre shortly after the vessel returned.
The ferry sustained damage to its bow above the waterline, but remained fully operational throughout the journey back. The tanker involved, the Marshall Islands-registered La Digue, did not report any damage.
According to MPA, there were no injuries among passengers or crew, no pollution in the surrounding waters and no impact on navigational traffic or port operations. The authority confirmed that services in the area continued as normal.

A video shared by a passenger on social media appeared to show the tanker passing very close to the front of the ferry. Horizon 9 is operated by Horizon Fast Ferry, which runs several daily trips between Singapore and Batam, each lasting around 45 minutes.
MPA has started an investigation into the collision.
