Italy is also going to send a hospital vessel to the Gaza coast to treat victims of the Israel-Hamas conflict, per Guido Crosetto, the Italian Defence Minister, on Wednesday.
The vessel departs on Wednesday from the port of Civitavecchia with almost 170 staff, including 30 individuals trained specifically for medical emergencies, the minister mentioned, stating that Italy had been working to send a field hospital to Gaza.
Crosetto indicated that two of Italy’s naval vessels sent to the region were highly likely to be in place.
Crosetto informed the reporters that they would evaluate whether they would keep them in that area, but he’d prefer keeping three vessels there to not have regrets.
Relevant foreign ministers from the G7, including Italy, called on Wednesday for certain humanitarian pauses in the Israel-Hamas war to permit aid and help release hostages.
